The newest Bulldog

Lucy started PK4 this week - and had her very first "full" day of school today.  She did great and seems to be adjusted to her new school, staying for lunch and "quiet time."  I wasn't sure how a full day would go because she has never stayed past lunch at school but when I picked her up she didn't seem to have missed us one bit. So, that made me happy.  The the first thing she said was "I didn't eat all my lunch" so I guess that was weighing on her all afternoon.  She has lots of sweet girls in her class - and I happend to go to college with her friend Evelyn's mom so I already have a friend too!

I am really proud that she finished her first full day, and although Lucy probably didn't, I had a lot of nerves going into this week because a new school is a lot of work (for the mom) and I didn't want to not have the right supplies for her, lunch, pick up and drop off procedures, etc.  I think we have it all figured out and are excited for the school year!

And, at pick up after her 1st full day!

Thank You!!!

Lucy and Leigh love their new home (I think) but they also miss living with Grandma and Grandpa!!

We can't thank you guys enough for letting our crazy family crash your nice, quiet, peaceful house. We changed that very quick. We should have put down a deposit for all the damage but promise to pay you back by helping you when you move one day!

Thank you - this picture sums up how much the girls loved living there.  Joe misses the channel 11 tv shows and I miss having someone to shop with.

But, don't worry, we love to move so I'm sure we will be living there again in no time.

THANK YOU!!!

Summer 2014 In Pics

There are few summers I can actually remember what we did during it - I'm sure I was busy, but can't remember what.  This summer is not one of them. I will likely not forget the summer we moved, moved between our parents' houses, lived in Schaumburg for 4 weeks, Joe quit his job, we moved to Arlington Heights, and Lucy started at her new school that same week.  It's been a little crazy and disorganized on my end, but also one of the BEST summers I think we will ever have.  The girls - mostly Leigh - has changed so much from when we first got here.  She mastered the stairs (like every kid does at their house), she has started talking so much more and somewhere between the 4th of July and August, has become a little friend for Lucy.

The girls and I have had the best time exploring the burbs and I have learned quickly why people with kids live here.  We LOVE LOVE LOVE it here.  It's better in every way for our family and we finally feel like we are settled and have a place the kids will grow up.

Tomorrow is our big move day, and school starts Wednesday, so we will undoubtedly be busy this week.  But, I can't miss out on posting some highlights from the summer.  Just a few of my favorites!

Kate and Vern Are Almost Married!

This weekend we celebrated Kate and Vern - and I'm biased because I was a host - but thought it was the cutest shower!! My mom, Beth and I had fun planning it and we thought it came together perfect. Kate was the PERFECT bride-to-be and Vern filled his role of co-gift-opener like a champ. Mimosa bar and chocolate...what's not to love?

Congrats Kate and Vern!! If this is an indication of how fun Charleston will be, it will be amazing!
