Leigh Turns 2!
Happy 2nd birthday Leigh!!
She truly is the sweetest, happiest, spunkiest and most thoughtful (thank you mommy, please somebody help me) little girl. We are still not sure where she came from but we are so grateful! Lucy is going to be a mini-me - hopefully she'll grow more into Joe as she ages but right now I just see myself as a 4-year-old. On the other hand, I don't think I had anything to do with Leigh other than giving birth to her. She is everything I am not - and for that, I am grateful! From the moment she wakes up, she is happy and in her own world. She's carefree, patient and predictable (I can pretty much guarantee how every day will go with her, how she will act in any situation, especially in public.) And most of all, melt my heart, she's a mommy's girl. And I love every minute of that.
She's not totally an angel though. She's still 2. She doesn't like to wear clothes, wants to walk alone in parking lots, likes to buckle her own car seat (let's just add 30 minutes to every car ride), likes to change her own diaper, already has an opinion about her outfits and can sweep entire rows of clothes off the shelves at Old Navy like a champ. If there is a 2-year-old that can be shopped with, they aren't in this family.
It's exciting to see her growing so quickly into a friend for Lucy and watch her personality develop as a little girl, but I'm sad that most of her baby days are over. I cherish rocking her to sleep every afternoon for nap, cherish her sweet voice as she tries to put together sentences and repeat what we are all saying and I cherish the mornings we spend just playing in the house because I know these baby/toddler toys may not be around much longer.
