Grandma, Grandpa and a Little Ladybug

This weekend Grandma Chris and Grandpa Bill came and stayed with us since Joe was out of town for a wedding in Kansas City for our friends Jay and Lauren.  Lucy (and Miles!!) loved all the attention - Lucy was spoiled being held all day, being read to and playing with Grandma and Grandpa.  I was so grateful for the help - and had such a great weekend too!  On Sunday Lucy and I went to the Southport Halloween parade with Aunt Katie.  Lucy showed off her little ladybug costume and being her mom or not, I thought she was the cutest kid on the block...until she started to scream and we called it a day.

Thank you Grandma Chris, Grandpa Bill and Aunt Katie for spending so much time with us over the weekend!

A Musician in the Making...

Yesterday, we went to our first music class at Bubbles Academy, a great place in the city with classes for moms and babies.  Lucy had so much fun listening to the guitar, following the rattle, rolling over (with a lot of assistance) and practicing tummy time!  We also sang sign language songs but the exercise made Lucy hungry so we ate instead.  The class must have worn out Lucy because she slept for 6 1/2 hours last night!!! We are keeping our fingers crossed this is the start to many long(er) nights of sleep.  As much as I will miss watching shows on TIVO at 3 am, I am ready for the full night of sleep phase - anything over 4 hours - to begin.  We are going to take the class all winter so I will share updates of our musician-in-the-making!

Our First Post!

Welcome to our family blog!  Before Lucy was born I had the intention of starting a blog to share pictures of all that she is up to with family and friends, starting with her first week home.  Every week we see so many little changes in her, and we may be baised, but we are pretty sure everyone we know would want to know these little updates! Well, she is seven weeks old now so I am a bit late but it is still very impressive that I figured out how to start this blog since I don't get along with technology very well.

I never thought I would be someone who would want to start a blog - who has time for that?!!  But, my sister Beth started a blog a few years ago to share pictures and stories of raising her daughters Abigail and Caitlin.  It has been a great photo album of all their milestones and everyday adventures that they can look back on as the girls get older.  I wanted Lucy (and us) to have something to look back on to remember all these exciting milestones!

Now, all about Lucy.....although she has only been part of our lives for seven weeks, it seems like she has been in our family forever.  She is the funniest baby with so much personality, and she amazes us with how quickly she is growing.  Lucy is smiling at us, can bat her hands at us, and has the most impressive tummy time lift.  She loves looking at herself (or maybe the beautiful woman holding her?)  in mirrors and is definitely daddy's girl because she loves to eat above anything else.

We are so proud of our little Lucy.  She is the most amazing little girl and we feel so lucky to get to be her parents!  We hope this blog is a great way for us to remember all the things - big and small - that Lucy does over the years.
