Leigh's 1st 4th

I love a holiday that falls on a Thursday - it felt like we had a "weekend" on Wednesday/Thursday and then had another one just two days later!  So, this year the 4th seemed to go on forever.  We had such a great week - spending much of it with Bill and Chris - where we moved in over the weekend.  They had to leave to AZ just to get rid of me and the girls!

On the 4th we took the girls to the parade in Des Plaines, which Lucy LOVED.  We laughed because the first float was a trolley of elderly women singing America the Beautiful and waving flags.  What else does Des Plaines have to show off in this fancy parade?  But, it was perfect - lots of fire trucks, dancers, uniforms - think the local Elks - and candy.  We spent the rest of the day in Huntley grilling out and letting Lucy play outside.  Saturday Joe left for 50 holes of golf with Rob and a group of guys, so I took the girls back to Huntley for a the weekend.  We had an amazing time at Resort Blandford!  We went to a neighborhood party, I took Lucy on a "date" to the park and for McDonald's ice cream, we played a lot and had great meals.  We were sad to leave!

It was a great 4th, despite the fact that we didn't see any fireworks as they aren't up when it gets dark out!
